'Yves Saint Laurent'

lusting….craving….coveting.

May 1, 2012

a new month! my birthday month {giant smile, hands up in the air happy}.

just a quick little share of a few items on my springtime radar.

a new scent.

typically i’m not a big gardenia fan-perfume wise. it’s too sweet or overpowering; i’ll take a gardenia candle, or a plant, i just don’t want to walk around smelling like a rite-aid-that’s usually how gardenia perfumes translate to me. but bond no. 9 central park west suckered me in with just one whiff. inspired by the grand, largesse, most sumptuous address in new york city, this fragrance is a “springtime wake up call” of narcissus, ylang ylang, jasmine, pepper, white oak, veviter and the grand dame: gardenia.

to me, it reeks sunshine, scarf in my hair, and a flirty skirt around my waist.

i am currently maneuvering a way to get this cotton candy dress from UNIF into my closet. even if it means eating actual cotton candy…which i detest….i will have this pastel prettiness swishing my ankles come summertime.

game on.

our new michelle armas canvas is coming soon from a steal sale on one king’s lane. even hunkiest dug the pinks and peachy hues.

this is a giant step for me seeing is how most of our house is hued in the shade of white, off-white, and ivory.

the big decision is where we will hang it. i’m leaning toward the master bedroom, but then no one else will be able to share in its loveliness.

thoughts?

of late, we’ve had some sunsets around here that have stopped traffic. literally.

driving home last week from class, down pacific coast highway, i watched 2 cars pull over to the side of the road to take photographs befitting the hudson river school.

the moody, heavy, lingering clouds that conceal our sun in the afternoon make for the most bedazzling early evening sky party. i will not begrudge the chilly spring morning again.

a giant mood lift….free of charge, courtesy of mother earth.

lastly, this tumblr is a new major time-suck and makes me giggle non-stop. had to share…..

tuesday happy to you m’loves…..

blue monday

February 20, 2012

of late i have been mildly obsessed with the color blue. cobalt, azure, sapphire, periwinkle; whatever the shade i seem to be a sucker.

here are a few of my favorite objet de bleu both coveted, tried, tested & true-{blue}.

this ysl beauty would rock any frock boss. i want it, and i veruca salt-want it now!

i recently purchased these precious dolls in nude satin. i flutter ’round the studio like swan herself. their baby blue siblings should be arriving in the mail any day now.

trouble sleeping? try a sprinkle of pillow potion before you fall asleep. a combination of essential oils designed to induce relaxation and sleep, these magic drops smell divine, and help lull me into slumber lovely.

a gift from my girlfriend lex-the dame with a mega-watt smile, this brush cleaner is what all the makeup artists use. i am hooked.

long gone are the days of slopping up my bathroom with shampoo and suds. cinema secrets scents my brushes april fresh, and launders them anti-bacterial clean.

a blue monday-share to you m’loves.

My New Holy Grail!!!

October 1, 2009

I’ve found it!!! My miracle worker!! My saving grace!!! My sud in the bucket!!! This week i had to face the facts. The breakup of 2004 is finally showing up in fine (not fun) lines around my eyes, and my days pre bucket-hats are rearing their ugly heads with unlovely melasma spots on my cheeks. After heavy research I stormed the Neiman Marcus makeup counter having narrowed my options down to two products: Clea De Peau Beaute’ Concealer and Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage. From my profuse online investigation I was more than convinced that one of these concoctions was going to transform me into the Kelly Garret I know I have inside of me. pilot11But low and behold, I happen to stumble upon a NM salesgirl who’s not counting the minutes until she breaks free for Cosmos at Fleming’s. Bridget looked at my wreckage, and said I’d be much happier with the Yves Saint Laurent Anti-Cernes Multi Action Concealer. imagesAnd boy was she right!! A couple of dabs here,  a few swipes there, and it was like coming home to my early twenties……..in really great lighting……..after six cocktails……maybe with some veiling. But nevertheless, it DID make me happier.  Just to quell any doubts with my other pre-conceived product notions we did a blind Folger’s taste test of all three. Definitely the YSL was the best. NO question. So if you’re looking for that new makeup marvel, flutter your way down to get this little stick of love.  If you need visual proof, here’s what I looked like walking into Neiman’sreal-ugly-faceand here’s what i looked like walking out:
